Did you know ...
  • CSE is comprehensive. It is organized into seven academic departments offering 15 undergraduate degree programs, 15 Master of Science degree programs, Master of Engineering and Master of Engineering and Management degree programs and the Doctor of Philosophy degree. In addition, the school boasts 12 world-class centers and institutes.
  • CSE has a long tradition of excellence. The Case School of Applied Science was founded in 1880 and renamed the Case Institute of Technology in 1947. The Case Institute of Technology then federated with Western Reserve University in 1967 forming Case Western Reserve University. In 1992 the engineering departments became the Case School of Engineering. Through its various forms, CSE has grown a proud and influential alumni base, with more than 17,000 alumni throughout the world.
  • CSE's educational programs are consistently ranked among the nation's best. U.S. News and World Report ranks the undergraduate program 37th and the graduate program 45th.
  • CSE's Department of Biomedical Engineering is among the best in the country. The BME undergraduate program is ranked 6th nationally by U.S. News and World Report while the graduate program is ranked 10th.
  • CSE graduates are ready to work. 97% of employers say Case engineers produce faster than their peers. Nearly half of 2006 graduates participated in our award-winning Co-op Program, while many others have completed internships or offsite research projects.
  • CSE students understand the research process. The university's SOURCE program provided more than $72,000 for undergraduate research in its first year.
  • CSE graduates are well rounded. Roughly one-third of undergraduates receive a dual degree or minor in liberal arts. All students also now participate in Case's SAGES comprehensive seminar program, which is unique among engineering schools.
  • CSE students are highly regarded. Recent graduates have received Fulbright and Goldwater scholarships and many other national and international honors. In 2004 alone, six CSE students were awarded highly prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships.
  • CSE faculty produce world-class research. Research expenditures top $40 million and research awards have more than doubled since 2001 to nearly $60 million.
  • CSE is a great partner. The school is highly involved with leaders in government, higher education, healthcare and business. One such partnership, the Wright Fuel Cell Group, will make Ohio a national leader in the fuel cell industry.
  • CSE is committed to diversity. The school ranks above the national average for female engineering faculty and, in 2003, the school ranked 15th in the nation for granting engineering doctoral degrees to women.
