CASE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING

Graduate Student Financial Aid

Fellowships

Every major research university across the country aggressively recruits academically gifted doctoral students. Case is no exception. Prospective Ph.D. students may apply for a number of fellowship opportunities, including:

  • Case Prime Fellowships
  • National Science Foundation (NSF) Fellowships
  • National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowships
  • NASA Graduate Student Research Program (GSRP)
  • Ohio Space Grant Consortium (OSGC) Scholarships and Fellowships

Please note that these fellowships are coordinated through the individual departments of CSE, and that many of these awards are available only to United States citizens.

For more information on any of these programs, contact the individual departments.

Other Funding Opportunities

While the majority of Case School of Engineering graduate students receive some form of financial support, it is important to be aware of the expenses you may incur during the course of your program. Most students will incur between $14,000 and $17,000 each year in living expenses, in addition to whatever tuition expenses they may have. Please keep in mind that this is just an estimate.

Students not receiving fellowships may be eligible for research assistant (RA) positions working on specific research projects for individual professors. A research assistantship typically pays a stipend and provides a tuition waiver, but this depends upon the funds available from the research grant or contract of the faculty member. Individual departments also may hire students on an hourly basis to grade papers, teach recitation sections or serve as lab assistants.

For more information about available RA or other opportunities in your area of interest, please contact the individual departments.
