Bachelor/Master of Science Program
Double Your Opportunities
The integrated B.S./M.S. program is intended for highly motivated and qualified undergraduate students who wish to pursue an advanced degree. Students admitted to the program may, in the senior year, take up to nine credits of graduate courses that will count toward both B.S. and M.S. requirements.
Students should check with their faculty adviser or department chair about the availability of financial assistance (tuition waivers and/or stipend) for participation in the B.S./M.S. program.
Qualifications for the B.S./M.S. Program
Applications to the B.S./M.S. program must be made after the completion of 75 semester hours of coursework and prior to attaining senior status (completion of 90 semester hours). Normally, this means that students will submit applications in the sixth semester of the B.S. program (usually the spring term of the junior year). Please check with the B.S./M.S. adviser for your department to learn the specific due date for your application.
The Case School of Engineering sets the minimum grade point average for admission to the B.S./M.S. program at 3.0. Individual departments may set a higher minimum G.P.A.
Applications to the B.S./M.S. program include the following:
- Completed application form
- Statement of Objectives
- Official Case Western Reserve University transcript
- Three letters of recommendation
- Approved Program of Study
Courses
The specific program of study must list the courses (research and classes) that will be counted for the M.S. degree (minimum of 27 credit hours). Up to nine hours of graduate courses can be used to count toward both the M.S. and the B.S. requirements. The courses to be double-counted are to be specified on the program of study. The program of study must be approved by the faculty adviser and department chair before being submitted as part of the application.
GRE Exams
Please check with your individual department about requirements for the GRE exam.
