The Morgenthaler Lectureship

With the generosity of David Morgenthaler, The Case School of Engineering and The Institute for the Integration of Management and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University are hosting The Morgenthaler Lectureship. Inaugurated in 2000, The Morgenthaler Lectureship celebrates engineering entrepreneurship and innovation and highlights the new synergies that can exist between academic and entrepreneurial activities.

David Morgenthaler founded Morgenthaler Ventures in 1968 after a successful career as an operating executive. After his venture-backed company, Foseco Inc., was sold to an international company, Mr. Morgenthaler decided that there was tremendous opportunity for private venture capital investing. He built a small Cleveland-based venture capital firm with a goal of investing in a variety of private technology companies around the nation. Now with offices in Cleveland, Menlo Park and Boston, Morgenthaler Ventures is focused on helping entrepreneurs build growth companies and recently announced the closing of its seventh fund with committed capital of $850 million. In 1998, Mr. Morgenthaler was awarded the National Venture Capital Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition for his contributions to the field.
